WHITE PAPERS
Public Opinion Report: Energy Policy
In this public opinion poll, we examined the general public’s current satisfaction and support for potential energy policies. The American public is unsatisfied with current energy policies and believes Congress needs to pass legislation that is economically and environmentally beneficial. They believe energy and the environment are inextricably linked and therefore renewable energy policies are heavily supported. However, traditional fossil fuel energy sources still have a role in the U.S. energy portfolio, particularly because the economy is still climbing out of a recession.
Public Opinion Report: Current Energy Environment
In this public opinion poll, we examined the general public’s expectations of government priorities in the energy sector, particularly in light of the current economy. Interestingly, while the public places a high priority on reducing foreign dependence on oil and developing alternative fuels, due to the economy, most support increasing domestic access to oil and natural gas, including offshore drilling. In this current environment, the public at large is willing to trade economic benefits for potential environmental risk.
