Infographic: Most Talked about Olympic Sponsors Part 2
Days before the Opening Ceremony in London, we awarded gold, silver and bronze medals to the 2012 Worldwide Olympic Partners generating the most pre-Olympic buzz. McDonald’s ran away with the gold, sparking more than 90,000 online conversations linking them to the Olympics. With just over 60,000 mentions, Coca-Cola was the runner up, inching out Samsung for the silver.
Here are the official results from January 1st – July 17th:
- GOLD: McDonald’s with 90,911 mentions
- SILVER: Coca-Cola with 60,271 mentions
- BRONZE: Samsung with 54,210 mentions

Now, with the 2012 Summer Olympics well under way in London, we’re back with an update on the sponsors who have dominated online conversations over the past few weeks. While no medals have changed hands, McDonald’s has pulled away from the competition with close to 120,000 mentions, 3x that of Coca-Cola and Samsung.
Here are the official results from July 17th – August 5th:
- GOLD: McDonald’s with 119,673 mentions
- SILVER: Coca-Cola with 42,004 mentions
- BRONZE: Samsung with 34,102 mentions
